About the game

Heckabomb is a twin-stick shooter for Windows. Works great with any controller. Supports mouse+keys play too. It has varied levels based in a circular arena and a host of upgradeable stats including bullet spread, rate of fire, turbo boosters and magnetic collectors. There are six varied add-on weapons too, including a chain-lightning gun, bullet-reflecting satellites and a rapid-fire swirly thing! (a legal requirement of any arcade shooter) Loads of different of enemies, including huge boss warships, missile batteries, tractor beams and a deadly enemy ace pilot will challenge your arcade reflexes and endurance.

Your planet is dead

The Heckabomber is a doomsday weapon, the only thing that survived the destruction of your home planet by the alien armada. Loaded with devastating planet-destroying bombs, you'll fight across the Universe. Seek out enemy worlds to obliterate, crush their defenders, crack their planet and harvest the remains for construction materials to upgrade your ship and continue your rampage.

Asteroids

Asteroids exist throughout the Universe and are often the leftovers of planet formation. With Heckabombs detonating across the galaxy, asteroids are often the leftovers of planet destruction too! Mining them for resources allows you to build new weapons, upgrade equipment and resupply smartbombs.

Every second level you'll race to harvest asteroids before the blast wave reaches you from the planet you just blew up!

Planets

After charging up on ship upgrades, you'll take on aggressive enemy ships, crash through their defensive lines and try to get close enough to their planet to drop a single, devastating Heckabomb onto it.

Enemies come in various shapes and sizes from tiny fast-moving divebombers to massive lumbering tractor-beam transports that'll try to pin you down for other enemies to shoot.

Warships

Every 10th level, you'll face increasingly huge enemy Warships. Each one carries a unique bonus upgrade that you can only get if you choose to engage the Warship rather than steer clear of it's deadly weapons and fighter launch bay.

Hardcore

In Hardcore mode you get no continues and enemy accuracy, rate of fire and bullet speed all increase substantially. One life only, extra challenging fights, vie for a place on the elite hiscore table.

Casual

Casual mode unlocks when you complete just one level of the main campaign. It offers a lot less challenge and a lot more salvage loot, making for a relaxing shoot-em-up ride up through the game as far as the first Warship encounter. Practice your moves in relative safety, or just watch the pretty explosions.

Survival

Unlocking the bonus Survival Mode gives you a huge upgrade budget to customize your ship just once then hurls you into an endless battle against increasingly ferocious odds and a limitless armada of enemy Warships.

Duel

Face the elite enemy ace pilot in the campaign and you'll unlock the bonus Duel Mode where you can challenge the ace alone (with his 5 elite henchmen... hey, he is a bad guy!) b4d347fde0

  An OK game. Controls seem a bit clunky. I'd be willing to bet that a controller would be perfect for this title.
  
  If it can get it low-cost, do it. Lots of casual fun. Not a perfect title to be sure. Lots of annoying design issues like not being able to re-choose upgrades and an odd save system. (on levels 11,21,31) But for the $2 or whatever it was worth it.. Im usualy not a big fan of dualstick shmups but this deserves some words
  Challenging gameplay, good learning curve, skills, dual stick (xbox360 work perfect) left stick steer right stick shoot switchable for left handers ,some classic gameplay like asteroids, gyruss mixed with new elements + skilltree, demands for more gametime here :)
  The sound is also good, Tec\/Beat\/Effects
  Gfx is good for this kind of game. Nice little stardust type shooter. accompanied by a good trance\\techno type soundtrack.
  might take a while to get used the controls, as there's alot going on at the same time!
  
  The difficulty is about right and the ship\/weapon upgrades do help you pull through each level.
  
  I like it but I'm an old asteroids\/invaders nerd. Kind of a 2015 asteroids\/super stardust makeover but a good one :)

  Even with a mouse and keyboard because my old RumblePad2 isn't supported in this twin stick shooter, I still had a blast!
  
  Game runs super smooth and fast. Very colorful and vibrate gameplay makes this game easy to look at and enjoy.
  
  For any fan of the old school asteroids, Super Stardust on the Playstation console, or the mega popular Geometry Wars games, this game is "Must Buy" period. 8.5 out of 10.
  
  Best feature IMO: The ability to use salvage points acquired in the gameplay to choose your own powerups and add-on perks for your ship. Making your ship the way you want is a nice feature missing from a lot of these Asteroid genre shooter games. Love it!

  - Zaxx. aliens blew up your planet? don't get all Dented up! go forth to the alien worlds and make them pay. make them ALL pay.
  
  basically, this is an arena shooter fought in a circular space. levels alternate between gathering salvage in Asteroids-style gameplay, and jacking up mass quantities of enemy planetary defensive craft long enough to get in nice and close and drop your Heckabomb on said planet to make it explode into lovely, lovely bursts of pretty sparkly bits,
  
  along the way, you'll get to deal with levels involving alien saucer attacks (great for salvage!), enemy ace pilots, and huge warships that join in trying to keep their planet in a nice unexplodey state.
  
  every level completed grants you an extra continue, which basically is an extra life that resets your ship to the state it had at the start of the level -- but the level itself will not be identical to the one just played. especially in planet levels, this could mean you get a much easier or much harder try than the previous one.
  
  the game's got a pretty nice ship upgrade system and six special weapons that can be purchased (and themselves upgraded) . it oozes style in every way (I adore the main menu with its shifting viewpoints of planets and suns!) from the graphic design to the excellent, pulse-pounding music. all in all, it's an excellent, well-crafted shmup experience.
  
  it can get kind of crazy in higher levels (40+), when aliens or asteroids begin to pile up in huge numbers that can be nearly impossible to fend off.
  
  words to the wise AI: do NOT be within 4 to 5 ship-lengths of an asteroid when it blows up. two chunks of rock come racing out at high speed and while they're at this speed, can take off 2 or more shields at once. I got instakilled a bunch before I realized what was going on.. Heckabomb
